Digital File Preparation & Output is designed to help the student acquire a greater understanding of digital file preparation process. Students will be introduced to the production use of software tools to handle files efficiently and spot problems early.
The sole responsibility for digital file preparation used to fall in the hands of the prepress department. Today, some of these responsibilities may be taken care of elsewhere in a digital workflow. Increasingly, designers are responsible for efficient document construction, customer service may do preliminary preflight checks and minor corrections, and digital press operators may be expected to manage files. All of these tasks require an understanding of digital file preparation.
